Darlington Council Stronger Communities Fund – Harrowgate Hill Green councillors making a difference

Darlington Borough Council has a “Stronger Communities Fund”, which allocates £1,000 to each elected councillor to spend in their wards to use for the benefit of their ward and its residents.

The funding must be used to:
⦁ support individuals and groups to enhance access to opportunities to improve health and wellbeing outcome within their Wards; and
⦁ invest in environmental improvements which improve the local area to the benefit of the local community.

Our Green Harrowgate Hill councillors – Roz Henderson, Richard Lawley, and Anna-Maria Toms - have allocated all their funding this year on these projects:

· Free Art Therapy Classes which were available to all residents.

· Funding for Whessoe Parish Council to help with their Christmas Party and Summer Event both of which are for residents.

· Maintenance work in Drinkfield Marsh nature reserve, which the Drinkfield Marsh Friends Group look after so well.

· Providing pitch barriers for their matches at Darlington 21st Allstars Football Club, which is based at Longfield School.

· Repairs to Salters Community Community Garden to help maintain this brilliant space.

More work is planned for the future, so watch this space
