Councillor activity in Harrowgate Hill and Hummersknott

Our new councillors have been settling into their roles and have already done lots of work for their residents. These are the kinds of things our new Green councillors have been getting up to.

Hummersknott

Kate and Thom have had a great welcome and have held two councillor surgeries at Salutation Hall and one street surgery. The issues they’ve picked up on behalf of residents include: dealing with an abandoned car, quad bike joyriders near Baydale Woods, complaints about road surfaces on several streets, lots of tree issues and ongoing concerns regarding cuts to bus services.

Thom met with the local PCSO to go through crime associated issues across the ward and to organise a joint meeting with the Hummersknott and Carmel School Headteachers to discuss anti-social behaviour issues affecting school children.

For September they have planned a speedwatch session on Hummersknott Avenue, an action day tidying Cemetery Lane, school visits and a meeting with the council arborist (tree specialist) to try and resolve some of the more tricky tree cases.

Harrowgate Hill

Anna-Maria, Richard and Roz have held three councillor surgeries at St Mark's Church Hall and one street surgery, and have regularly attended the Bread and Butter thing at Elim Church. They met with a great response and some residents commented how pleased they were to see their councillors active in their area. On behalf of their residents they've arranged for a tree to be cut back to allow access to a footpath and for the reinstatement of a parking bay at the Morrisons Local, got the council to clear up fly tips (and send letters to the residents they think may be responsible), got a damaged bus stop repaired and streets cleaned, and chased various incidents of anti-social behaviour.

For September they have planned another ward surgery, a Pick, Pie and Pint (litter picking) session, and Police And Communities Together (PACT) meeting.
