Matthew Snedker, Darlington’s Green parliamentary candidate, is a hard-working and well-respected Darlington councillor. First elected in 2019, he leads the Green group which increased to seven Darlington councillors in 2023. Matthew is an experienced activist, campaigner and local politician – he is increasingly well known in Darlington, regionally, and beyond.
Darlington Green Party has ambitious aims for this General Election campaign. The purpose is to get as many Green votes as possible and to pave the way to further successes in the 2027 Local Elections and then the next General Election. We will have a real chance of winning many more councillor seats, and possibly even Darlington’s first Green MP.
The aims of this campaign are to:
⦁ Retain the deposit (which means achieving at least 5% of the vote)
⦁ Match the national Green Party vote share
⦁ Achieve 3rd place in Darlington
⦁ Get Darlington added to the list of the Green Party’s “development constituencies” for the next General Election – this would give us professional support and funding from the National Party so that we could run an even more effective campaign, on a much bigger scale, next time.
Darlington Green Party has made huge progress over the past five years. We need to carry on our momentum – spreading the Green Party message, raising our profile, getting as many Green votes as possible in the general election, and paving the way to even greater success in the 2027 local elections.
Unlike other parties we do not have large corporate or union donors – our strength is our people. Even if you’re not a member you can volunteer to help with our campaigns – if you’d like to get involved please email us at darlingtongreens@gmail.com.
